End of the Road...

July 14, 2007 - Richmond, Virginia, United States

So, I'm back in the States. I returned home a little over a week ago, with plane delays and lost luggage (luckily, I got my bags the next day). Jet lag is still plauging me, as I find myself sleepy at the most random times of the day and waking up extremely early.

My parents hosted a "Welcome Home Vickey" party last Sunday. It was great to see everyone again! I had missed the family quite a bit. I spent the rest of the week trying to wrap up things in Connecticut (issues with the bank, etc.) before Will came up on Wednesday night. He was in CT for Ned's birthday.

Yesterday Will and I drove down to Richmond together. First, we stopped and I got to meet his mom for the first time (btw, she is very friendly and we got along quite well). He had a gig so I was able to see all the guys from Stone Lucy last night.

I now begin my five weeks' stint at the UR campus, working for the Admissions Department, giving tours and doing little projects, and the Office of Student Activities sitting at the desk in the Commons, answering phones and doing little projects (sweet). I'm spending the first two weeks living at Will's (he's up in Fairfax for his job, but his lease doesn't run out until August, so there's an empty bed for me here), then hopping from couch to couch until I can move into my dorm room. It should be a fun summer down here, exploring the city and immersing myself in music from the music library. If anyone's in Richmond, get in touch and we can hang out!

It's been a great time. I already miss Australia so much. Every other sentence out of my mouth begins, "In Australia..." Thanks to everyone who's kept up with my blogs, left me comments, sent me an e-mail, etc. etc. etc. I love you all and whenever I go abroad next (probably next summer, hopefully to Europe, possibly Poland), you'll be getting an e-mail from this blog (with a new title). See you all in my next adventure!

Love,

Vickey

Vickey -- I am sorry that I missed your brief stop in CT! I hope that you are going to be able to settle into the routine of "normal" (whatever that is!) college life here in the states -- thanks for your wonderful blog, and all the great stories!
Michele
