So classes went well. I'm definitely in love with Queer Theory. It's all going to be a lot of reading, but that's okay.
Last night I FINALLY made it out to Sydney. I was going to meet up with Olivia, a girl I met through Queerspace, for coffee, but she woke up "feeling really crook" and asked for a raincheck. Since I was all set to head out to the city, and Derek was already planning on going, I decided just to tag along with him. Elisabeth was going to the city to meet up with Charlotte for shabbat (Charlotte's Jewish) and Sarah and Julian (Hoo-li-an), one of Derek's flatmates from Apartment 6, decided to come along, so our happy little family headed on the bus to the Queen Victoria Building (QVB.), a central location in Sydney. We looked for food and they all dealt with me taking pictures everywhere.
After we ate at a little crepe place, we met up with Derek's roommate from home, Alex, who goes to Sydney Uni, and Alex's roommate Ben. We wandered around the Harbor, got some nice looks at the Rocks, a neighborhood in Sydney, and looked for food again. We ran into a German band playing outside of a German pub--the best part was the fact that they all had glasses of beer sitting at their feet while they were playing. We checked out the oldest pub in Sydney and I discovered the term "pot"--it's the smallest glass you can get in a pub. I was very excited, since I can't drink as much as my friends.
We got some more food then met up with Ralph and Ben from Apartment 6 and went to the Star Bar, which had a very chill atmosphere. We were going to play pool but the machine that allows you to play was broken, so a few of us went to dance. At about 12:30 AM, we split up, half going to Scruffy Murphy's, the others (including me) to the Three Wise Monkeys. We took a bunch of pictures and had a grand ole time. Afterwards, we headed home on the last bus of the evening and ran into Christian who was going home. Overall a great first experience in Sydney.
Tonight is the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. I'm going with Club Ex, the club for exchange and study abroad students. You'll get another journal entry of waaaaaay too much detail tomorrow again (muwhahaha...eh, if you don't like it, you don't need to read...). Byeee!
P.S. I still have a million blisters.
