So, from Egypt it was on to India - we arrived on an inauspicious morning in Delhi, filled with fears of terrorist bombings threatening the country . . . good times. I was worried, but after a little retail therapy of yards and yards of beautiful sari fabric I felt much better . . .
. . . . that is until my knee fell apart! Having had pain from a twist to my knee trying to remove an errant fin from my foot while SCUBA diving in Alexandria (a story within itself), after a few days of pain in Delhi we decided a trip to the doctor was in order, as it appeared a large mango had grown from my kneecap. After x-rays and an MRI and riding around in a Indian ambulance (not recommended, by the way), we found out I had a knee sprain, fixable only by bedrest! Quite a dissapointment as I had outlined quite an intensive itinerary for our visit, only to have to put it aside for a week of watching movies in a Delhi hotel (could have possibly been the laziest week of our lives).
The good news is my knee improved, and soon enough we were off to Agra for a visit to the gorgeousness that is the Taj Mahal. Beautiful!
Our stay in Agra was brief, and then it was a day train to Bhopal and then an overnight train to Bombay, where the stresses and irritations of India were washed away by the amazing hosptiality of the wonderful Kanani family! Had a wonderful visit, seeing all the main sites of the city despite the monsoon's pelting rains (well, the monsoon did prevent us from going to Elephanta). and was really sad to have to leave. It was a disappointment to have to have had missed out on so many wonderful sites in India, but our homestay and a taste of Indian life was more than enough compensation!
And now . . . . on to Hong Kong!
