. . . but we forgot our camera cable, so we will just have to suffice with a thousand words on our brief sojourn into the fascinating social network that is Rio di Janeiro, Brazil. Day 5 of our trip, Day 4 in Rio, and although we have been waterlogged with rain the past two days it has been really a wonderful trip so far! Our first day took us to the ever-elusive SugarLoaf Mountain, riding two cable funicula(r)s (sp) up to the top. The arrival at the summit gave us a wonderful view of the entirety of Rio, a view only surpassed by the grace witnessed by our samba teacher later in the evening when Aron and I attended our first samba class (damn we're good!), followed by a really good dinner of roasted kid (not the small human kind, but the small goat kind). Yesterday we ventured to Corcovado to climb up to see Cristo Redentore, the famous statue that overlooks the city. Unfortunately it was a bit cloudy, but it was beautiful! Today we did not do much as everything was closed for the national holiday of Los Compleannoes do Professore Aron Culotta (Happy Birthday to Aron!!) . . . okay, so nothing was closed, but it was a REALLY rainy day, and though we tried a trek to the Botanical Gardens, after the 3 hour walk there in the rain we were pooped . . . . so now, it is time to go out and REALLY celebrate Aron's birthday, and then tomorrow it is off to Buenos Aires!! Ciao for now - hasta luego!
