Zanzibar ... Spice Island!

Jambo from Tanzania!We've just spent the last week in a hut on the beach in Paje, a tiny village on the east coast of Zanzibar. The hotel owner is a sweet Japanese lady named Saori who cooked us wonderful seafood every night. The beach was nearly empty except for us and the locals who harvest seaweed every morning, beat it with sticks, and somehow make rope out of it. We got a tan, Alexis learned how to SCUBA dive, and we saw some beautiful coral reefs and sting rays. This was the perfect half-time rest stop of the trip.We flew on a very tiny plane back to Dar Es Salaam today (Alexis was very brave); tomorrow we leave on a much larger plane to Cairo.
