We left Colorado City about 10am, stopped for lunch at Wendy's near Colorado Springs. Another beautiful warm day in Colorado. We drove through Boulder headed for Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. We drove through the park on Trail Ridge Road, which goes up to over 12,000 feet - yipes. We didn't get quite that high up, but it was plenty high for nervous travelers. So beautiful though, breathtaking mountain scenery, lots of snow, and one elk relaxing in the distance.
Camped at the Estes Park KOA, a great spot. Lily and Lee had a great time in the playground riding "Buster," the swing made out of a tire to look like a horse. Cool. Seems we had left our grill behind in Cortez, so we picked up a small new one in the KOA store. It worked great and we had some delish bratwurst on the grill for dinner while we watching UGA lose the CWS.
Up early Thursday and off while the kids were still snoozing in the bunk. After they woke up we stopped in Loveland to eat breakfast and we're headed for Cheyenne, then maybe as far as Topeka...heading back east today.

Rocky Mountain National Park is one of my favorite places, I am happy that you got to see it. I bet it was exciting for Dad to drive on that Trail Ridge Road. When we would drive there Sue would tell me to watch my driving and she would look at the scenery for both of us. Once when we were there with your Mom we had the elk on the road with us and we had to stop while they bugled! Maybe I can find the pictures when you guys get home.
You sure look like you are having a great time. When you go through Kaksas look for the sunflowers that the farmers grow. They might be blooming but then maybe not. You also might see some of the flooding along the Mississippi, but I hope not.
Have a good time . We love you.
