More exploring around Lima

March 5, 2008 - Lima, Peru

We wandered about the old centre again on the 5th and got there in time to see the changing of the guard. Went on for a while, we took a few pics and videos then headed to China town. On the way we got peckish and Liam and I had some kebab sticks. Were really nice and after China town, which was rubbish. Just full of tac and really really busy streets. Was good to see but stressful to walk about. We went past the kebab stand again so Liam and I had 2 more sticks. Tried the cows heart stick this time which was nice (its another Peruvian favourite). We then had a beer in a bar, thought were getting a jug to share but ended up with one each! Was nice to be in the shade though.

Headed back to the hostel after that and we went out for the first time! Headed to a neighbouring district called Baranco to the El Dragono club. No queue to get in, just a mass push to the door. Fits perfectly in line with the whole of Peru. People don't apologise for bumping in to onme another and don't seem to care. They are very impatient, you can work this out just by watching the roads! People drive through red lights in fron tof the police who don't seem to care! Anyway, once inside we were drinking Piscola's! Pisco is a favourite South American tipple, and as we were with Felipe, a Chilean chap we met at our hostel we had to drink it under his instruction! Was ok but not my favourite! There was lots of salsa dancing, a few englsih tracks in there to but mostly latin music. Got back to the hostel and had a good kip as v tired.

I'm catching up on a few posts as I haven't been writing as had my mind pre occupied with not feeling well and the bite etc. Seem to be ok now but still a bit paranoid. Oh well!
