Ciao South America!

May 5, 2008 - Santiago, Chile

What an amazing place! I have lovedpretty much everywhere we have been, particularly Peru. We did spendseven weeks there so I guess I am always going to think of it as afavourite but there was just so much to see there.... Huaraz with itsamazing snow capped mountains, Islas Ballestas with thousands ofbirds and sea lions and obviously Machu Picchu! Other highlights included Argentina, which hadbrilliant food and a buzzing night life.

Everything was so cheap and thetravelling was much easier than I thought it would we be. We had warmbeds in almost all the hostels, they did our laundry for us and brought it backwarm and neatly folded. It did not feel like backpacking! Also the food wasbrilliant, very cheap and you could get great quality food cheaplytoo. We only washed our clothes once (which did not turn out great!) and cooked only one meal for ourselves!

I would like to spend more time inBolivia as I loved what I saw. I would have liked to have visitedthe jungle and done some trekking in the Altiplano. I would also like to visit more of Argentina. Particlarly the South and the Patagonia region to do some trekking.

I will miss haggling for stuff and the crazyroads and hustle and bustle of all the cities but at the same time itwill be nice to be back in our comfort zone; speaking English in notsuch a manic environment. I will definitely be heading back to SouthAmerica at some point in my life! New Zealand here we come!
