Hanmer Springs

May 14, 2008 - Hanmer Springs, New Zealand

On our journey to the west coast wedecided to stop at Hanmer Springs as it was getting a bit late and wewere all tired. There was no free camping in the town centre so westayed just on the outskirts. In the morning we headed straight forthe springs only to find they did not open until 10am! So we played abit of football until then. The queue to get in was quite big asloads of other camper vans arrived with the same idea as us.... getclean! There was lots of different pools at a range of temperatures, the hottest being the sulphur pools which were 41 degrees celcius. Wewent around all the different ones and two hour later we got out andhad a long shower before going to get some lunch from the wagon. Wethen got sorted out and got some snacks as we had a long drive to thewest coast. We ended up stopping at Lake Brunner with a plan to dosome fishing in the morning. We sat in the local pub for the eveningand sampled a few locals beers and had pie and chips!
