Tonight I am in Lyon for my final night in France. The Euro2008 soccer is on at the moment (France vs Italy). I've decided I'm not a big soccer fan, I was watching the first half.. the continuous running and kicking I dont mind, its the fake falling overs and overexaggerated pain expressions on the players faces that piss me off! Hence, I am yet again presented with the opportunity to take advantage of free internet so I thought to update.
The 2nd part of my visit to France has been awesome. It was raining in Paris most of the time which was a shame. Had a really interesting encounter with a french sales lady who wouldnt exchange the umbrella which turned out to be broken I bought from her. Grrr. Visited the Notre Dame Cathedral the first day and loved it. It's fair to say I've been to many cathedrals in the last few weeks, however, I especially thought the ambience of Notre Dame was really lovely. Had a really special experience there too. I saw that a priest was available for confessions that afternoon, and never having done confessions, decided to do it that day. Was a lil anxious at first, I waited outside sitting on the pews for a minutes while the priest was looking to see what I was waiting for, but then finally built up the courage to go in. And I'm glad I did. Had a really great talk with Father. He essentially told me things I already knew, but really needed to hear. The next day, I did a long ass walking tour around Paris which lasted around 4+hours. Basically I walked from Montmarte, to St. Michel, to NotreDame, to the Louvre, to the obelisco, to the Arc, to the Eiffel Tower, then back to the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa (it was free for under 25's that night), then walked all the way back to my hostel in MonteMarte. Crash...Met 3 really cool columbians that night though. Taught me bit of Spanish and one of the girls (Yvonne) actually did a bit of the pilgrimage to santiago like Carla so talked to her about that a bit.
I've stayed with Nadege in Lyon for the past 3 nights and have had a really pleasant and relaxing time here! We went bikeriding on the first day along the beautiful river and this garden (forgot the name).. And spent the other 2 days basically rejuvenating; sleeping in, kicking back at the apartment, long hot showers, cooking, and watching back to back Friends episodes on dvd! Just what I needed. Oh and finally watched the Sex and the City movie at the cinemas last night.
I'm ready for crazy again!
Tomorrow morning I head out to Interlaken and I'm soo excited!! Put me among beautiful scenery any day! I'm also looking at maybe doing skydiving again, we'll see aye? ![]()
peace
