More rain on the brain

November 16, 2007 - San Miguel, Philippines

The rain…in Spain…is insane! Yep, another few days of rain. So as soon as the rain let up we headed for San Miguel/San Antonio in hopes of being able to get on the base. Unfortunately, the old base was now being used as the Naval Training Station for the Philippines, so they wouldn’t let a group of American’s on the base. The ride out there was actually more eventful, as we took what are referred to as the ‘Teams’ buses out to the crossing. Basically they were like open window charter buses, that were set on a schedule…a lot different from the typical jeepney method we had been using. We were able to get a few good pictures on the fly, aka pictures taken out the window as we sped from town to province to town to farmland. After turning back from San Miguel, we hopped back into the tricycles and decided to go scouting for a dive resort. Found a little place in Pundakit [which means ocean] called Megan’s Paradisio Beach Resort, run by Vergie and Harvey and family, and named after their daughter… Megan. After haggling some prices, we made tentative reservations and headed back for home, with a plan to take Mike and Angie and the kids with us when we returned.
