The NZ tour is over and we depart for Australia.
Whatever your beliefs about how the world came to being; divine creation, big bang theory, alien experiments, one thing is for certain; New Zealand got more that it's fair share of natural beauty and wonder. To really rub it in, there is only a meager 4 million souls who inhabit the pristine beaches, wild rugged coastline, towering mountains, rolling valleys, volcanic springs and lakes, glaciers, rivers and the many other beautiful aspects of this country.
NZ is a microcosm of all the worlds natural phenomena and what is more the Kiwis and Maori are probably the friendliest bunch you will come across.
Needless to say we had a great time here, the bonus being that Nic and I managed not to kill each other being in a very confined camper van for a month.
Some of the highlights include, surfing deserted beaches with great waves, climbing a glacier that adjoins a rain forest (supposedly one of only 2 places in the world where this happens), black water rafting which is more accurately described as "toobin' in caves", numerous walks, enjoying fish and chips which can be ordered by sms (the height of civilization I tell you), cruising in Milford Sound, river surfing and generally taking in the scenery in our very own mobile home.
Trouble with this place is that you fear that everything else is going to be a bit of an anti-climax and you are itching to get back..
I am sure this is not the case though and we are looking forward to hitting the well trodden backpacker path of East Australia!
