New Place Massena Statues

I`ve just come back from a 3 days vacation to Nice. It was splendid. The statues tough are very intriguing..they`re beautiful, walking by them in the night is amazing...but I would be grateful if you could tell me something about their significance. I honestly couldn`t find any explanation on the web. Tx a bunch. Best, Sebi
