Hi everyone. We are writing to you today from Ko Phangan on the East Coast of Thailand (home of the famous "Full Moon Parties", not that we plan to partake while we are here - we have purposely avoided the festivities...... too old for that shit!)
Since our last entry in Phuket over a week ago Mark and Monica have travelled to Ko Phi Phi, Ko Samui and now then to Ko Phangan.
Leaving Phuket Mark and Monica were both sick with fever and headaches which lasted 5-days and we are glad to see it go. On Ko Phi Phi we spent 3-nights at the Phi Phi Relax Beach Resort (Sel and Zane would remember this fondly as the same place we stayed a few years ago). Shame we couldn't really enjoy it much due to the circumstances, but we relaxed and snorkelled and slept on the patio of our Oceanview Bungalow. We HAD pictures but unfortunately erased them from the camera so we can't exactly do the bungalow justice, but it was nice.
From there we headed by boat-bus-boat to Ko Samui where we stayed 3-nights, again alot of relaxing and our 1st attempt to join the scooter revolution of Thailand. Mark drove, monica hung on, and we cruised around and checked out some pretty pathetic waterfalls and viewpoints, but stumbled across elephants bathing in the river - prbly the highlight of Ko Samui (poor Ko Samui). Both Mark and Monica contracted a skin allergy to the water and have been on medication ever since - so Ko Samui doesn't exactly hold a fond place in our hearts right now. But was good to see it.
Now we are in Ko Phangan. We are staying at a place called Coral Bungalows that's on a really not nice beach in Haad Rin (the centre and home of Full and Half Moon Parties). We got here the day after our hotel had a huge pool party (thank god) and will leave before the half moon party on the 9th of August and head to Ko Tao. Ko Phangan just seems to want to party, and we just can't be bothered.
Hope all is well with everyone back home in Canada and Australia. Bye for now. xo
