This afternoon we set off on a mission to see the Friends apartment building in Greenwich Village. We managed this although it didnt look quite like it! We stopped for a late lunch in apparently the best cafe for soul food in the Village if you believe the promos on the outside. It was however a very cute offbeat cafe that ahs been open since the 1950's and indeed the burgers were fantastic. We didnt have grtis as we tried those in Atlanta and didnt develop a taste for them.
Then we split up - the girls and I to browse the gorgeous off ebat designer clothes shops and Rob to explore the knick knacks and record stores. When we reconvened, Rob was a bit flustered. He had been standing on a corner deeciding where to go next when a 6'4" American African dude came up and asked him " So where are we going?" Rob took that to be a friendly comment and said he was just deciding and could go either way. As the guy looked expectantly at him, it dawned on him that the guy meant them together and he was being propositioned. Unknown to him, he had been standing on the corner of the most well known gay street in New York. He is now a bit touchy about his very smart black and grey woollen scarf he has been wearing. It gave the rest of us plenty to laugh at and Elly plenty of double entendre opportunities.
We have decided to try the Times Square on New Years Eve thing - requiring us to stand outside in subzero temperatures for 8 hours without access to a toilet/food for saleĀ and not able to bring backpacks or the like in......

Great to have such a long talk with you yesterday - God bless phonecards!! I have just caught up with them myself so think I will get one. Photos of you all are brilliant and you all look so full of life and fun! We are glad that you caught up with a Broadway show (sorry about the queueing though) and Sardis and all the rest. You can keep Times Square on New Years Eve if there are no loos - unimaginable!
Steve and Kate had a great time at Robbo = "fell in love with it" - the house and the area That was great idea Belinda! Dad had a good birthday yesterday - we had a BBQ with Phil's sister Jenny and her family and Ros ad Pete from across the road = we had Greek souvlaki = very tasty!
We are going to Sydney for New Years Eve - dinner and o/nite at Nan's place. Phil and Fiona have friends coming down here to stay the night.
So Happy New Year to you all - we'll look for you in the footage (all 60 seconds of it) from Times Square - wave something distinctive - Rob's grey and black scarf by the sounds of it!
much love from us all here at Robbo.
