Zaterdag Glasgow ingeweest. Heb Silke daar ontmoet, met 2 van haar vriendinnen die op bezoek waren uit Duitsland. Uiteraard moest ik weer voor tourguide spelen haha Ik heb ze dus maar het West End van Glasgow laten zien, mn favoriete gedeelte. Door Kelvingrove park gelopen naar het Kelvingrove museum, toen thee gedronken met een stuk taart aan de overkant, vervolgens next door naar het Museum of Transport. Dit was een erg leuk museum, zeker de moeite waard! Ze hebben een hele straat uit de jaren 20 nagebouwd, erg leuk. Op de terugweg zijn we naar Glasgow University gelopen, waar ze ook trouwfotos aan het maken waren. Het was erg winderig die dag, dus pas maar op dat je kilt niet omhoog waait! Wij natuurlijk erop wachten, om eindelijk het mysterie te ontrafelen, maar helaas...Toen hebben we Sophie nog opgepikt van het station en zijn we met zn allen naar Lauders geweest, toch wel een van mn favo restuarant/pubs. Lekker eten, en goedkoop! sAvond naar Sex and the City Movie geweest, superfilm! Helaas had Sophie net de laatste trein naar Largs gemist, de film duurde iets langer dan verwacht...Dus die heeft bij mij gelogeerd, ze ging de volgende morgen toch ook mee met het IBM tripje. Zondag zijn we op reis geweest dat was georganiseerd door IBM. Het was niet zo'n hele grote groep, zo'n 30 man. We zijn richting Loch Lomond gereden en daar als eerst gestopt. Vervolgens door Rest and be Thankful (erg mooi!) de bergen in richting Inveraray. Inveraray is een klein dorp maar wel toeristisch want het heeft 2 attracties. De eerste attractie: Inveraray Jail. Normaal ben ik wel in voor zoiets, maar dit was gewoonweg saai. Raad het niet aan, zeker niet voor de 7,25 die je ervoor neer moet leggen. Gelukkig hoefden wij maar 20 pond all-in te betalen voor de hele reis. Toen hadden we nog zo'n 2 uur voordat we bij Inveraray Castle moesten zijn. En geloof me, Inveraray is mooi, maar erg klein, en je hebt zeker geen 2 uur nodig om het te verkennen! Ze hebben maar 1 superklein winkelstraatje, met meer souvenirshops. Geloof dat het hele dorp maar 3 restaurants heeft, waar we even een hot choc hebben gehaald. Ook het eten en drinken hier viel tegen. De Bell tower was gesloten, dus genieten van een mooi uitzicht konden we ook al niet...dan maar naar de waterkant genieten van het uitzicht op Loch Fyne in het zonnetje. Uiteindelijk naar het kasteel gelopen. Daar hebben we een tour met uitleg gekregen. En nog een gratis souvenirguide gescoord yeaaaa! Had er al een van Edinburgh castle, ze zijn iets van 4 pond. Wel leuk om te hebben want je mag geen fotos maken binnen. Na het kasteel te hebben bezichtigd wederom vervelen en wachten tot de bus kwam. Liggend in het gras in de zon kwamen we toch een Nederlands stel tegen uit Spakenburg, en de vrouw was in oudhollands kostuum! Hoe groot is die kans ?? Tegen 5 uur eindelijk in de bus, op weg naar het plaatsje Luss. Luss ligt aan Loch Lomond en is wederom een klein dorpje. Maar zoooo schattig, allemaal lieve kleine cottages! Er was nog een halve gare idiote Schot die het ijskoude meer insprong, brrr!!
Went to Glasgow saturday. Met up with Silke and two of her friends visiting from Germany. Ofcourse I had to function as a tourguide again haha So I decided to show them around the west end , my favourite part of town. Walked through Kelvingrove park to the museum, then had tea and cake across the street, then headed next door to the museum of transport. Very nice museum, I recommend it! They recreated a street from the 1920s, very nice. On our way back we headed to Glasgow University, where a weddingparty was taking pictures. It was a very windy day, so ofcourse we stuck around to see if any kilts were blowing up hehe but no such luck. Afterwards we picked up Sophie from the trainstation and headed to Lauders to have some food. Lauder's is one of my fave restaurants/pubs in Glasgow. Good food and cheap! Afterwards we went to the theatre to see the Sex and the City movie, which was awesome! Unfortunately the movie lasted longer than we expected, and Sophie ended up missing the last train to Largs! No problem though, she crashed at my place, we were goin on the IBM trip the next day anyways. The IBM trip was the sunday after, with about 30 people, so not too crowded. We headed towards Loch Lomond and stopped there to take pictures. Then we drove through the Rest and be Thankful valley (gorgeous!) up the mountains towards Inveraray. Inveraray is a small village but very touristic cause it has 2 attractions. The first one we went to, Inveraray Jail. Normally I'm totally into this kind of stuff, but this was plain boring. Cant believe they charge you 7.25 for this crap. Good thing we payed 20 pounds all-in so we didnt have to pay. After the jail we had about 2 hrs before we were expected at the castle. So 2 hrs to explore the village. 20 mins would do actually. The Bell tower was closed, so no nice views from above. The mainstreet is very small with just a few souvenirshops and 3 restaurants. Went for a hot choc in one of the restaurants. The food and drinks werent really good there either. So we just sunbathed in the grass enjoying the view of Loch Fyne. We walked up to the castle where we were expected at 2. We got a guided tour of some parts of the castle. Scored one of the souvenirguides for free hehehe, those are nice to have, since youre not allowed to take pictures inside. I also have one for edinburgh castle. After seeing the castle yet again we had to wait for 2 hrs till the bus came back to pick us up. More sunbathing! So what are the chances in a small village like that that you'll run into a little old lady from Spakenburg, Netherlands in an old fashioned costume? Apparantly pretty big!The bus finally came at 5 pm, and we headed to the village of Luss. Luss is such a cute little village! Nothing but tiny little cottages and beautiful scenery! There was this crazy scottish dude that took a dip in the freezing cold loch, brrrr!!
