Why haven't I written in a while?
Cause I'm in London people and therefore have too much to do - and so when I have a chance to write usually I'm worn out from the day. But here is a short summary of what I have done in and outside the great city:
Chinese New Year Celebrations in Trafalgar Square - Two and a half hours was worth the Lion dance and seeing the dragon wake up. I have pictures I promise
National Gallery - SOOOOOOOOO many painting. I went with Sarah went she had her layover here and I was overwhelmed but determined to go through it gallery by gallery next time I am there.
National Portrait Gallery - My friend Ann and I spend two and a half hours covering the museum. Feeling proud of ourselves we turned the corner to see that we missed all the Royals. And we all know there are a lot of them.
Science Museum - There was an advertised Japanese theme adult late night - so I had to go.
Ely Cathedral - It's a church, but they never get boring. And the tours always help.
Tate Modern - Only covered the 5th floor in the entirety which included Cubism, Futurism, Vorticism, Minimalism and Conceptual Art
Cambridge - Three hours of wandering around the city. Astonished at the number of bicycles. Really want to go back. I need to post those pictures.
Fitzwilliam Museum - Claire and I covered the museum in 55 minutes.
The Royal Academy - Palladio Exhibit - Architect that brought back the classical style. Indigo Jones followed suit.
Tiger Tiger - a legit club with tons of peoples dancing on ever which floor. States that there is a variety of music but all I heard was euro techno and American top 40's. And after being there a couple hours you cant hear anything any ways. Hm, this sounds negative but it was actually one of the best nights I've had.
Grocery shopping - which includes but is not limited to finding 'breaded eggs' and 'malt loafs' I have yet to sample these unique. Everything is wrapped ad packaged differently so I really enjoy going around and thinking of the concept of ephemeral art
Orchid - a bar that has a dance floor in the basement.
St. Paul's Cathedral - When to the Golden Gallery - which I should post pictures too also.
Strolls through - St. James Park, Green Park, Regent Park
Oh and I do go to class - seriously I do. Mon - Thurs 2 Hours a day except an extra hour on Mon
Another reason I have not written in a while is because of the amount of reading I have. But in no is this me complaining. In effect this semester is more reading than two semesters back home. The intense read-figure-it-out on your own is defiantly different from the American spoon fed - 'here read this chapter and do this problem and complete this lab'. But we will see what I think when it comes time to write and essay and take a three hour long 'unseen' exam. So cause I am sure you want to keep up to date here are the books too! This does not include the poems or essays or any of my Philosophy readings.
Oroonoko (Behn) 80
Moll Flanders (Defoe) 318
Gulliver's Travels (Swift) 371
Pamela (Richardson) 503
. . . and that is for only one class . . . and we have only had four class . . .
also read: Her Privates We (Manning) 247 for my WWI class, or module as they say.
Tomorrow I have Art & Society so most likely we foreigners will be venturing out into the city to see art in the city as you can guess. So hopefully I will be inspired to write more tomorrow.
