August 3, 2010 - Hilo, Hawaii, United States

On our first night on the Big Island, we went out to dinner at this cute little local place called Ponds, across the street from our hotel.  We went for a walk and then headed back to the hotel because we were exhausted.  Bryan laid down on the bed while I was brushing my teeth.  By the time I got out of the bathroom, Bryan was asleep laying diagonally on the bed.  His feet were up by my pillow and I picked up his legs and was trying to move them.  I kept saying, "Come on" and trying to pull them away.  I was so tired, all I wanted to do was crawl into bed.  Bryan finally moved his feet.  I pulled the covers down and picked up my pillow as I always do and sitting under my pillow was a little black box...  I looked at Bryan and back at the box.  I picked it up and asked him what this was, to which I got the response, "I don't know."  I really had no idea what was going on.  As I opened the box, Bryan slid off the bed onto his knee.  Inside was this amazing ring.  Bryan looked up at me and said something to the effect of, we have had some wonderful times...(insert more words here that I can't remember because I was in shock) and he finished with "Will you marry me?"  I couldn't talk and just shook my head yes.  Eventually my voice came back and I said yes, officially.  Even though it was 11:05 at night and I was exhausted, I looked at Bryan, "How do you expect me to fall asleep now?"  And the journey begins! He asked...
