none of us had heard about this city. famagusta has been a ghost city for the past 33 years- ever since the turks have occupied the northern part of cyprus. this is as far as you can go without being told that you have to stop. if you press onwards, the chances of you being shot is 100%. many people who lived in this city in 1974 currently live as refugees 30 or 40 kilometers behind the fence that separates the north from the south and everyday they look at their former neighborhood... if they are still alive to remember when they did live there... and wonder if they will ever see their homes again.
