International Childrens Day

June 2, 2007 - Hue, Vietnam

Hello!
Hope everyone is well since I last wrote. I haven’t been up to much exciting but thought I would post about one of the funniest days I have had since being in Vietnam.
On Friday it was international children’s day. We were invited to a ‘party’ at the Home of Affection. When we got there it was more of an end of term ceremony. The children had these amazing dance routines and a fashion show they put on. They also all seemed to have crazy new clothes! They were hilarious and took it very seriously, also the boys seemed to be wearing bright pink lipstick??! The manager spent ages making speeches to the children which they looked bored all the way through! The whole thing was topped off by the fact they each got a set of exercise books wrapped in cellophane for graduating their year group - not the most exciting of incentive!
The new volunteer arrived today and we start our new program Monday which should be good, I have been and brought new text books for my older boys today.
I also went to the Imperial Palace last week but will include those photos at a later date.
Please leave comments and let me know how everyone is!!!
Lots of love
Claire
