Mind the bed bugs, they DO bite!

August 18, 2007 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Hello!
Here is a hopefully quick catch up!
Had a good time in Singapore. Enjoyed all the western luxuries!

Made the mistake of going to the night safari zoo though! Sounds great on paper but was absolutely packed of Asian tourists! Which is to be expected really, you would have though I had learnt my now! However I did see a HUGE bat

Then I headed to Mallacca in Malaysia. Spent one night there and then one night in Kuala Lumpur then headed up to the Cameron Highlands
The Cameron Highlands is gorgeous! Met two sweedish girls (and a odd pervy Iraqui backpacker, but thats another story) There are loads of tea fields and nice treks, we saw monkeys in the jungle! We also went to a tea factory and saw how tea is made! Important for a tea drinker like me! However The guest house was in Nissan huts which obviously appealed to an ex-Wymondham College student. my trip was somewhat ruined by the fact on the first day I arrived I lay on my bed to finish my Harry Potter book and have a quick nap. This was enough time for me to get over 50 bed bug bites on my hands shoulders and face! It was horrible and I couldn't sleep for the next three nights! They have nearly cleared up now!

The Swedish girls and I are now back in Kuala Lumpur. The girls were home sick today so where did we spend the day??? Ikea of course! Was a funny day!

Tomorrow Fenia arrives and we are heading to Borneo on Tuesday!
Hope everyone is having fun.
Lots of love

Stayed at TREKKER LODGE in Kuala Lumpur for 5 nights in early August 2007. Did notice one harmless looking black bug crawling on the sheet when I pulled the sheet up the next morning. Noticed a few more each successive morning and, yes, some were even crawling on me, but the rest of this air-conditioned room was SO clean I didn't think much of it. It took SIX days for the bites of these bed bugs to show up. I was all the way back to the U.S. and maybe 75 bites and SOOO itchy! I thought bed bugs were tiny! Now I'll check UNDER the sheets before I take the room or bed. . . They love seams of mattresses and inside of pillowcases as well. I also think they change appearance AFTER they have bloated up on your blood. Charming thought.
