Bye Bye ASIA

September 1, 2007 - Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand

My last blog from Asia!
Well in true style we have kept the excitement going up until the end!
We were meant to fly from the town we were in in Borneo straight to Singapore, spend a night there and then fly to Koh Samui island in Thailand the next eveing.
When we turned up at the airport there was no sign of our flight! Turns out it only flies three times a week so when I put the date we wanted into the computer it automically put it to the nearest available flight. We still had to get to Singapore ASAP not to miss our second flights so had to fly to Kuala Lumpur spend a night in a transit hotel and fly to Singapore the next day. We had a few hours free in Singapore so I spent the last of my money on a Mac laptop for uni. Unfortunately I can't set it up without being connected to the Internet, which is just silly so haven't even had a play on it!
We spent one night in Koh Samui then got a boat to Koh Phanaghn. There we had treated ourselves to the nicest accommodation I have ever stayed in! We had an apartment high up in the mountains we even had a bath tub that opened up to the cliff side overlooking the sea! We had hoped to stay nearer the south of the island but as it was the full moon party all accommodation was booked. Had a great time and met some really nice people by our pool! The hotel also put on transport down to the party which we went to for a couple of hours. There were thousands of people there! It was just like Homelands on the beach! We watched some fire shows and drank a couple of the buckets but then showed that we must be getting older as we left on the first transport the accommodation provided back to the hotel at 2am.
As we were so far from everything we hired a scooter to get around, Fenia use to own one when she was younger so it was all good. One night we went for a BBQ which you cook on the table with so Israeli's we met which was delicious. However on the last day we decided to go to the beach, headed down the hill from our hostle at about 5mph but must have hit a rock hole because the bike went left and we went right. I only have a small graze on my right hand but Fenia rolled a few times and cut open her toe, kneee, hand and side.:( Manged to get her up to the Israeli's room where she promptly threw up in their bin! She thought she had broken her arm so the Hotel took us to a private hospital to get it x-rayed (where she taught the Thai nurses a few new English swear words) , luckily it doesn't seem broken, although she has to go and have it looked at again in a hospital when she gets home! What with the hospital bill and the moped repairs Fenias credit card took the biggest bashing! But the main thing is we are all ok! Getting back to Bangkok on the boat/bus/over-night train as a bit of an ordeal as I had to try carry both big bags! Fenia was in lots of pain, but we made it here in the end though and managed to get some last minute souvenir shopping done today before Fenia left. She is now on her way back to the UK, as I will be this time tomorrow!
When I get home I will put the last of my photos on here and the information on how I spent my fund raised money and some changes that are happening at the orphanage!
Well done to anyone who has read all five months worth of blogs! I will test you on it later...
Love Claire
