Returning Home

July 23, 2013

 July 20,21

On Saturday, we spent a peaceful night in the Broken Group in a bay encircled by three islands- Dodd, Willis, and Turtle- where we also had the company of 16 boats.

Sunday we decided to scoot over to the Deer Group of islands which are southeast of the Broken Group and across Imperial Eagle Channel,  closer to the Vancouver Island side. We had fun exploring some sea caves near Fleming Island where we stayed on Sunday night.  Hopefully you can see the picture when I send it.

We arrived in Bamfield this morning and tied up at the Public Wharf. It is a cute little place and our last stop before heading home. The community lies on both sides of Bamfield Inlet. The west side is where we tied up at the Public wharf. The west side has no road access . We walked a 1km boardwalk that takes us around little cabins, docks and a Post Office and General Store.

East Bamfield across the inlet, is the commercial centre with hotels, marinas, an outpost Hospital and road access.

A highlight today is the hike we took to beautiful and sandy Brady Beach. The sun is actually shining today. We have been without sun since Tofino!

Tomorrow, we wake up early to go with currents and winds to take us toward the west entrance of Juan de fuca Strait. We will travel about 90 miles and get to Sooke or Becher Bay just a mile or so east of Sooke. Next day we wait for good current to take us to Victoria.

Over the last five weeks,we have had a wonderful adventure and will have many memories and stories to share. We have made many new friends too. We have enjoyed the opportunity to communicate our stories to everyone back home as we went along.

I have sent a few more pictures so hope they show up.
