Grand Teton

September 23, 2010 - Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, United States

Living up to its name, we were mesmerized by the Mountains reflecting off Jackson lake, especially at sunset time. Our campsite was spacious and only a 100 ft. walk to an embankment along the lake and epic views. The lake was painfully cold, yet refreshing after getting in...the coldest water I have ever swam in. The colors of Fall were in full swing with a beautiful medley of shrubs, flowers, and trees. We did a 14 mile hike out to Hermitage point which was nice and saw our first grizzly up close on the drive in. The rangers had set up a scope so we could see the bear's yawning and fully relaxed demeanor up close as it layed under a tree. We also saw a mother black bear and cub multiple times in camp eating berries as well as a group of mule deer & fawns. We spent three nights here and wished we had more.

It looks like you guys found the campground I told you about! I love the Tetons and am super jealous I wasn't there with you. Sorry I missed you while you were in my neck of the woods. Glad you're posting and the pics are great!
