2013 Eastern Trip Erie, PA to Lockport, NY

July 3, 2013 - Lockport, New York, United States

We left Erie, PA on July 3 and arrived at our campground, Lazy Lakes (ROD), that afternoon in Lockport, NY for two weeks.  We stopped in Angola, NY on the way and had breakfast with my cousin, Ron and his wife Vicki.  It had been several years since we had seen them, so it was really fun visiting with them.  I grew up in Niagara County, NY so I was really looking forward to spending a month and a half in that area.  We came up there to spend some time with my sister, Christine, visit with other family and friends, and to go to my class reunion.  (Some of you know which year, but I'm not telling!)  We went to the fireworks on the 4th in Niagara Falls, NY.  It was really crowded, but the fireworks over the falls were beautiful, and the night lights on the falls are awesome.  I grew up on an apple and cherry farm, and I loved working on the farm.  We went to a u-pick orchard to pick some sweet cherries.  Of course, I ate more than I put in the bucket, just like I used to do when I was a kid!  Richie just took pictures.  He couldn't see the magic of picking your own when there were baskets full of cherries already picked and ready to buy in the farm market!  I spent a week in Rochester with my sister, Christine, while Richie stayed at the campground.  After two weeks we moved to my cousin's, Marc and Annette's, on Lake Ontario.  They have a full hook up for our motorhome. We had a beautiful view of the lake out of the front windshield.  The sunsets there are unbelievable! Christine came down and stayed with us for four days while we were there.  We had a good time cooking out, relaxing, and enjoying the lake view and sunsets.  Of course, great sunsets call for a good glass of wine to go with them!  We found two newborn kittens under house next to us.  The mother abandoned them. After listening to them cry all night, Annette called several places and finally found a friend that would take them.  Anyone who knows Richie, knows that we almost had two new kitties!  After a week we moved back to Lazy Lakes for two weeks where we met up with some friends, Sherie and Karen.  We hadn't seen them for two years. Sherie grilled some chicken for us one night, played Mexican Train, and we spent a day in Niagara Falls, Canada with them.  They had never been to the Canadian side.  The weather was perfect, and we took a picture of the Maid of the Mist with a double rainbow.  It was really good to see them again. Richie and I drove our car up to Wasaga Beach, Ontario and spent the night with friends, Bob and Sheila, who live in our park in FL in the winter.  They have a beautiful house in Canada.  We rode our bikes to the beach which had a nice view of some mountains across the lake.  Again, we had another great time with friends! This takes us to early August.  My next journal will be a continuation of our visit to Lockport.
