2013 Eastern Trip East Stroudsburg, PA

August 20, 2013 - East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, United States

We left Lockport, NY on August 16, and arrived for a four night stay at my aunt and uncle's in Spencer, NY. We picked up my sister, Christine, in Rochester to ride with us.  We were on our way to attend our nephew John's wedding at Princeton University.  It was Christine's first ride in a motorhome and she enjoyed it. Another aunt and uncle came and had a picnic with us one day.  We parked our motorhome in their yard, and had a really nice visit.  We arrived in Timothy Lake Resort (Outdoor World) in East Stroudsburg, PA on Aug. 20 for two weeks.  We left our motorhome at the campground and traveled down to Princeton, NJ for the wedding.  We stayed with the rest of our family at the Westin Hotel for three nights.  On Thursday night our family went out to eat dinner together.  We had a great time catching up.  Friday, Richie, my two sister's, Christine & Molly and her husband, John, took a tour of Princeton University. There are many beautiful buildings and gardens on the university grounds.  We saw the Fountain of Freedom in front of the Robertson Hall that has one of the largest bronze castings in the United States. It was created by James Fitzgerald in 1966 and he named his work the "Fountain of Freedom" to symbolize Woodrow Wilson's vision of lasting world peace. Each spring, Woodrow Wilson School seniors have a tradition of jumping into the fountain after handing in their thesis.  On Saturday we attended the wedding, which was held at the beautiful Wyman House.  The Wyman House was built in 1913, and is the residence of the dean of the graduate college.  The ceremony was held in the gardens and was beautiful, and of course the bride, Jessica was beautiful as well.  After the ceremony we had champagne in the gardens, and then a reception was held on the grounds.  Before the reception some of us decided to climb to the top of the Cleveland Tower which had a circular stairway with around 175 steps to the top.  Richie couldn't do it because of his knee, so my brother-in-law, John and I did it with a bunch of young kids.  The view of Princeton from the top was awesome.  On Sunday all of us drove to East Stroudsburg and we had a mini family reunion for two days. We spent the time swimming in the pool, cooking out, dancing & drinking by a bonfire, and just having fun. I'm really glad everyone could stay for a couple of extra days.  We left on Sept. 3 for a weeks stay at Hickory Run State Park in White Haven, PA.

Sounds like a wonderful time and as always looking forward to the pictures. I enjoyed the "reunion" ones.
