We arrived in Las Vegas on Wed., March 11. We have seen some really crazy drivers, accidents, and close calls on our trip, but we saw the weirdest thing of all on our way to Las Vegas. We were only about 5 miles from our campground driving on I-515 in four lanes of heavy traffic all going east. We were in the slow lane and there was a four door pickup in the fast lane a few cars ahead of us. All of a sudden the passenger door opened and this guy was hanging out the door trying to hang on. He had to let go, and he fell onto the roadway at about 60 mph. He started bouncing and rolling on the road. Everyone was putting their brakes on. Unbelievably, he jumped up and ran limping to the center concrete divider, crawled over it and ran across 4 lanes of traffic on the other side. I don’t know how he didn’t get run over or cause a huge accident in that kind of traffic. God was looking after him that day! And, I had my camera around my neck but we were in such shock watching it happen I didn’t think about taking a picture. Las Vegas TT is mainly like a big parking lot, but it was clean and nice. As soon as we were parked and set up, our new neighbors, Stan & Bev invited us over for cocktails. That was a nice ending to a stressful drive. We also visited them when they moved to a nearby campground. We really enjoyed their company and I’m sure we’ll meet again someday. We visited our friend, Barb, while we were there. Barb & I graduated together in NY, and she moved to the Las Vegas area last year. We had a really good breakfast buffet at one of the casinos, and then went to Arizona Charlies to do a little gambling. We brought Barb luck. She won $560.00! We didn’t win, but we didn’t lose either. She came back to the motor home for a long visit. It was really fun seeing her. We went to the Las Vegas Strip one afternoon and wound up walking for 5 hours. You can see a little of everything on the strip! The casinos are amazing and the fountain show at the Bellagio is a must see. I think I like the Indoor Mall at Ceasar’s Palace the best. Not because I like shopping, because I don’t. With blue skies painted on the ceiling, it looks like you are outside in the daylight no matter what time of night it is, so it is really a neat place to walk through. We had dinner at the Rainforest Restaurant in the MGM Grand Casino. It is almost like you are really in a rainforest. (Remember what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!) Next journal will be from Hurricane, Utah where we went to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon.
