We arrived in Hurricane, UT on Tues., March 24. Richie and I both came down with a really bad case of the flu the next day. We were really looking forward to exploring this Zion and Bryce Canyon, but instead we spent several days in bed. We finally went to Zion on April 2, and still felt too bad to hike. There is a hiking trail there called Angel's Landing that we had looked forward to doing for months. It is a strenuous 5 mile hike that follows a steep, narrow ridge with beautiful views. Chains have been added to hang onto in the narrowest part. Some friends told us about this trail, and we really wanted to get some pictures. I guess that means we'll have to come back someday. We did an easy 2 mile hike on the Riverside Walk. At the right time of year, you can continue past the end of the trail and wade in the water where the canyon gets really narrow. We saw a couple of guys that were rock climbing on a wall that went straight up. Personally I think they are crazy! We loved the red roads and all the beautiful and colorful rock formations in Zion. Next journal will be from Bryce Canyon.
