After 10 months of traveling out west, we are finally heading east. We look forward to seeing family and friends went we arrive home in FL. After leaving Utah, we still had some beautiful scenery through the desert and red sandstone formations. I-10 through New Mexico after Albuequerque is just a long road of very flat and boring scenery, especially after the amazing scenery out west. We stayed in Walmart parking lots while moving across the country. We had to spend an extra day and night in Lubbock, TX because of 45 mile an hour winds with 60 to 70 mile an hour gusts. After Richie had to run outside several times to keep shopping carts from dive bombing our motorhome, we finally got smart and moved to the other side of the parking lot so they would fly away from us!
We arrived at Lake Whitney RV Resort (TT) on April 9. It was a very nice wooded park with large spaces. We went to Dallas on Saturday and went to Dealey Plaza to the Museum where Kennedy was shot. I'm not much of a history person, but this was a very interesting display with several videos. It was a very moving experience. Richie risked being run over for me to take his picture on the big X in the road. That evening we had dinner with our friend Diane. Diane and I graduated together in NY and have kept in touch for many years. We had a great time and finally made it back to the motorhome at 11:45 pm.
On Easter Sunday we went to a very nice lodge for an Easter Buffet. The inside was beautiful and the food was excellent. They did need to do some weeding and trimming outside. We rode around Lake Whitney and then went back to the campground to enjoy the nice warm weather. Next journl will be our continuing journey to FL.
