This journal will cover the rest of our trip home from a trip of a lifetime out west. We left home on June 4, 2008 and arrived back home on April 22, 2009, 10 ½ months later. We went to every national park out west except Death Valley and saw the most beautiful scenery everywhere. We had some great hikes in the mountains. We liked WA state the best. We wound up staying in WA for almost 5 months. We visited some friends along the way and my sister in San Diego. We met many new friends at all our campgrounds.
After leaving the Dallas area, we stayed at Lake Conroe TT in Conroe, TX. Both Lake Whitney and Lake Conroe RV Resorts were very nice with really large spaces. We had been told that Texas had some really nice TT Resorts, but didn’t think we would want to spend any time in TX. We will definitely visit these resorts again sometime. While in Conroe, TX we visited our friends, Bill & Sharon. Sharon & I graduated together in NY. They live fulltime in their beautiful Mandalay RV. They are on their way to Alaska from FL, so we happened to cross paths. We had two good meals of salmon with them and the four of us ate a whole carton of ice cream for dessert! Yummy. Bill has a freezer in the storage space under the motor home. He leaves FL with it full of ice cream and comes back from Alaska with it full of salmon that he catches up there!
Next we spent a few days visiting with our good friends and family in Marianna, FL. Richie & Steve have been best friends for years. Steve became a doctor after he turned 40 and has his own clinic. Steve and Carol just bought a vacation cottage on the lake, so we spent some time there riding in their boat. I have a feeling when they get the cottage fixed up they will spend more time there than at home! We went out to eat with a bunch of relatives one night and had a really good time. It was great to see everybody again.
Next we arrived back home in FL on April 22. It has been great seeing our family and all our friends again. It’s nice being home, but we will be planning our next motor home adventure for the fall! I have to say one more time, this was a trip of a lifetime with many wonderful memories (and a few thousand pictures)! Hope everyone has enjoyed the journals and pictures.
Next Journal will be a trip to NYC in May for our nephew’s graduation from NYU. We will be flying up there.
