Roompot, Holland

July 28, 2007 - Roompot, Netherlands

Captain’s log. 27 July 2007, Seaship Sharon. Traveling thru time and space….. We got the boom fixed. Notice the bend in photo in the old one on the right beside the new one. That is the crew that took me three days and many canal miles to find and one of the few Selden Boom dealers in the inner nest of canals of Holland. We spent 2 days there in Brouwershaven and decided to set off even though there were gale force winds coming because we were going to motor and only go 26 miles thru complicated canals , a lock and a drawbridge again. Thistime we hit the drawbridge exactly at 1 pm as it opened. This bridge is the longest in Holland and 3rd longest in europe at 5 km. Arrived at Roompot marina and got the last official space at 3 pm. Every one else is waiting out the storm. We had moderate waves and high winds but made it in perfect safety. Tomorrow we hope to reach Dunkirk and the following day traverse the English channel. Our goal is to get to the tip of France , Brest, and stay a few days and talkto others going across the Bay of Biscay to Spain. Maybe we can get another crew member and also go with a few other boats. We will see. It is 3-4 days 24 hours a day to cross. In the meantime we generally watch episodes of The Sopranos or movies at night. Tonight we see the Finale of Sopranos. We are guessingthat Christopher kills Tony or else he rats and goes into the witness protection program. Are we close?
