Nazare, Portugal
August 24, 2007 - Nazaré, Portugal
After a 7 hour trip before the trade winds started I arrived in a delightful resort town of Nazare. Was helped dock by a nice guy who bounded off a yacht with a Canadian flag. As it turned out her parents left Riga,Latvia in the 40,s and moved to London, Ontario, She had never been to latvia and was interested in my stories of the 2 years i was there. We have been enjoying each other company since i arrived by eating out and visiting. John is 6 months on in his medical practice in BC and Diani puts up with his other 6 months traveling the world in their yacht. John has been most helpful to me with insitful comments on sailing. After doing round trip to Hawii and now the Atlantic he is a fountain of info. Will stay an extra day or so to pik his brain.

Geetings from far away Australia. I am a relative of Daina and appreciated her comments on your voyage. Have fun! How did you like living in Latvia?

Looks like you are making fantastic progress, and meeting some very interesting people. Just had James and Lizzie over in Latvia for a couple of weeks. Now back to the grindstone at work. When do you think you will arrive in the Canaries?
Take care and happy sailing!
Regards,
Malcolm
