Five More Days in Santiago

June 30, 2008 - Santiago, Chile

Well, once again it's been a while.

Last week I finished Latin class and Spanish class and all the final exams, final papers, and homework associated.

This week, I'm focusing on finishing two final essays.  For Contemporary Issues in L. America I'm writing about the history of the German Colony, Colonia Dignidad, in Chile.  For Chilean Culture, I'm writing about German influence on Chilean culture.

There were two"goodbye" events last week: one for Spanish class and one for our program.  Both were bittersweet.  The "despedida," as it is called, for the program was really nice.  We all went out to eat at a nice restaurant, and, the following day, we had a paperwork session which served as a second, unofficial despedida.

On Friday, I'm leaving for Peru where I will spend a week with five other students.  We are going to visit Machu Pichu and do a four day jungle tour, during which we will be sleeping in the jungle!  If I had a video camera (imperfect subjunctive), I could make my own wildlife survival TV show!

The remaining recent occurrences will be narrated through photography...  Back to work for me.
