Callie Gee coming at you once again...

April 8, 2010 - London, United Kingdom

Callie Gee coming at you once again…but this time featuring…dun dun dunnnn…M Dubs (aka Michelle). Last you heard from the children, we were tucking ourselves in, in Edinburgh! Wednesday started with a trip to the Edinburgh Castle, but had limited pictures due to the rain…AGAIN! Our guide was Robbie Robertson and he, along with our driver, Big Paul, dressed up in kilts to spice up our lives and add to the Scottish atmosphere. We then made our way to the Queens house in Scotland, called Holyrood or something or other. Our night finished with a meal that was sure to satisfy all, PIZZA! Yah! That’s not all, we then continued on to our very first ghost walk that seemed to scare the souls. (Callie cried and others were shaking in their new European boots).

You would think our night ended there. Going back to the hotel for a nice hot bath with candles and fresh tea….wrong! In fact we had to hop on the night train to London, our last destination. While all were squished in 2x2 rooms, 2 lucky travellers (names undisclosed for their protection) were given the opportunity to stay in the penthouse of the train, equipped with electric doors and covering an area of 3x4. Luxurious if you ask me.

Nothing can stop the Canadians. We arrived in London bright and early and hit the ground running with no time to spare. Our tour guide Avril (No, not the singer from Ontario) showed us the major stops in the over-populated city, a major stop being the Buckingham Palace! The Queens house! Lucky for us she was in at the time, so your child can happily say they were in at least 300 yards of the Queen! We said goodbye to Avril and head out on our own…shopping! Our free time included shops, cafes, and many street entertainments (Break dancers, magic acts, and acrobatics). For dinner was the staple food of London, fish and chips. We then got to go on a Jack the Ripper Walk. We got the chance to go and visit the murder sites and learn the full story. Although he should be dead by now, this mass murderer’s body has never been found. Goodnight London.

Our last day in Europe started with our last free time session, on Oxford street. It’s home to over 300 clothing stores so you may want to check your child’s balance. Lol. After lunch, we hopped on the bus and got a ride to Windsor Castle, and once again, the Queen was there. We’re not stalkers or anything haha. Sorry to say, nobody was able to make the guards laugh, which was disappointing. We then bussed it back to London to eat our Arabic dinner consisting of Hummus and Baklav. Let’s just say, there was a lot of food left on the table and a lot of hungry kids leaving the restaurant. We then walked to a theatre were we watched Sporty Spice from the Spice Girls, lead in Blood Brothers. It was a redic play which left Mme, Mr. Mitchell, and many kids in tears. It’s now time to pack and start saying goodbye to London. We’ll be home before you know it and I know you’re all eager beavers to see the coolest kids in town, back in town. Goodnight Europe! You will be missed.

A big thanks goes out to all drivers, tour guides, and the best tour director ever, Wesley, along with his fluorescent orange hat.

See you in t-minus one day!

Peace out D-town

You know you love us

Xoxo
