Animal Kingdom and Mickey's Halloween Party!

October 29, 2007 - Charlotte, North Carolina, United States

Sunday got off to a quick start as we all were "up and adam" by 9...ish.  We headed directly over to Animal Kingdom to have breakfast at Rainforest Cafe.  After a very filling New Orleans-style breakfast....bloody marys and mimosas included....we went to a really cool 3-D show, It's Tough to be a Bug.  This is an interactive show from a bug's perspective including "spit," getting hit by a fly swatter, and a stink bug!  Afterwards, we all got several autographs including both Minnie and Mickey in Halloween costumes.  After this, we all went to the Lion King show where we were seated in and cheered for the warthog section!  Our next stop was Kilimanjaro Safaris where we saw real lions, tigers, elephants, giraffe, ostrich, antelopes....etc, etc, etc.  Lastly, we got to see a really cool acrobatics show over in the Africa section where I was pulled out of the crowd to participate--pictures included!

We were still able to brave the rains and then headed back to the hotel to get in costume for the big halloween party at the magic kingdom.  MS and I were never able to get costumes as we found out that the Disney company does not make ANY costumes in adult sizes--they keep it all for the children.  A great idea except we did not have anything to wear.  So..we went as ourselves.  Anyways, she and I and the two gals from Hannah Montana (Isabella & Camille) and our little gypsy (Soph) went over to the magic kingdom around 6 for our dinner reservations at an Italian restaurant.

The parade was great with all of the characters dressed up for halloween and a big focus on all of the villians in the Disney family.  The girls then went trick-or-treating at several different stops before we arrived at the elusive TEACUPS.   Somehow...Mary Shannon got bribed in to these and we have pictures to prove it!  I think I have escaped going on them.....this time!  We finished the night off on the Dumbo ride and the merry-go-round before heading home around midnight.

Today we are going to downtown Disney to do a little Christmas shopping before having lunch at "Norway" in Epcot with the pricesses.  We will probably stay at Epcot all day doing different things before capping our trip off with an interactive dinner at "Morrocco" that includes belly dancers.  I have promised Isabella that I am going to paint her name on my stomach and dance with the belly dancers but...we will see!!
