Hi everyone,

Well, the adventure begins.   It was early on Monday Nov. 18th as I parked the rig next to the Princeton Mcd's in order to get my fix of coffee.   I am addicted you know.

I had not really travelled that far before in this rig so was a little apprehensive but with some nice support from Connie ..... I went ahead and started on my way.

It wasn't long before I felt like one of those big rigs (trucks) that barrel down the road.   I was kinda into it and thought of the song by Dave Dudley .... "six days on the road ..."    I was having fun.   Getting through the cities was a hassle as usual but once on 94 heading to Madison ..... all was smooth.

Potty breaks at Rest Areas was entertaining since the signs instructed me to go park by the "big boys" ....

Look at that baby, parked right up next to the monsters.    When I got up to go into the bathroom I was sure to hike up my pants so as not to show but crack ..... then drifted on in like I was king of the road.    No problems and things were going well.

Found a nice truck stop in Rochelle, IL late that afternoon and settled in for the night.   Hauled out my new generator and had a whiskey along with some ham sandwiches thanks to my friend Howie.   He is so smart.    Great nights sleep, again, right alongside the sleeping monsters of the truck stop.

Up early and after another coffee stop and fuel ingestion ..... back on the road.   I will be in Camp Girardeau, MO. this evening and will be there for the next three nights as I get my water system changed over from anti-freeze to clean pure water.    Look forward to that.

Enjoyed the other truckers on the road .... flashing them when it was ok for them to turn back into my lane after passing me, etc.   Lots of very nice people.

Speaking of nice people ..... special thanks to Connie for the wonderful farewell and the fabulous lobster birthday dinner.   Along with her support when I questioned going .... she has been a rock.  Thank you.   I met with Dan and Nancy before I left and Dan had a birthday card and Nancy made me a "cigar quilt" (gotta see it to figure that one out) .... it is beautiful and I really appreciated both the card and the quilt.   I have it with me.    Sunday evening was special .... Ginger invited me to celebrate my birthday with her.   We had a great dinner and she wished me well.   You are so good to me Ginger.    Thanks also to my brother Jim and his wife Colleen along with my sister Terri and husband Joe ..... they both called and invited me to join them for Thanksgiving.    I love you both and your invitation is so, so appreciated.

Well, gotta go but will add more another day.    It is beautiful here in Missouri and was about 68 degrees as I crossed the Mississippi in St. Louis and gazed at the Arch downtown.

Any comments will be appreciated.    Enjoy Thanksgiving everyone!

David

This all reminds me of Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again" What a blast, David! Your rig is gorgeous and I'm sure you will have it completely ship shape by the time you leave Mo. Love hearing about your experiences and thoughts on this very cool sojourn. I hope you keep a journal of the people you meet and places you love as you travel along. I'll help you write a book.
Love you, miss you, Connie
