Back to Uganda!

June 5 2017

As I sit here on a plane to Uganda, I have to literally chuckle to myself as I replay the happenings of the past two weeks that got me here. God’s timing is certainly perfect, and I cannot wait to see what this next journey to the Pearl of Africa brings. After being there three times, for a total of 8 months, I have grown to have such a special love for the entire continent of Africa, and a special affinity for Uganda and it’s beautiful people.

A little background (so you don’t have to read my 50 previous blogs), I’ve spent time doing missions all around the world, Uganda being the last place I’ve been. Three and a half years ago the Lord called me to a special mission in Uganda through an organization called True Impact Ministries, founded by my now “Colorado Parents”, Andy and Susie Stewart. Never in my life had I had such a direct and obvious calling to serve as I have with this organization and Uganda as a whole. Now, almost four years later, I still find myself returning to a place that has certainly grabbed a hold of my heart, and with each passing kilometer on this plane, feel a piece of my heart returning back to me, a piece that I’d often times forgotten about or tried to ignore for the past two and a half years. Not because I didn’t want to think about it, but because two and a half years just was TOO LONG of a time to wait to go back (for me and my timing), but once again, the Lord’s ways are perfect, and He’s constantly reminding me of that.

I accepted a teaching job in Colorado at Faith Christian Academy last year, and as of two weeks ago, was ready to enjoy my first taste of summer vacation as a teacher. I had been praying about going back to Uganda for about 6 months, but had no ticket purchased or dates set. Through incredible provision and timing, on the last day of school two weeks ago, I booked a ticket to Uganda for three weeks. And now here I am, on my way there looking at pictures of people and places just so excited for what the Lord wants to do in and through me this time around.

He is near. Those three words have been echoing in my heart since those tickets were bought two weeks ago. The Lord has already been showing me and allowing me to feel his presence in such a new and tangible way and I’m not even there yet. Experiencing that promise right now is so worth the questions/feelings/frustrations/yearnings that have flooded my head and heart for the past two years regarding my return. Filled with such peace and joyful anticipation, I know the Lord is going before me in this journey, just as he always has and always will be.

Please feel free to subscribe to my blog to get email updates whenever I post something new! Would love as many prayers as possible for our God who can do the impossible to even show the slightest glimpse of His glory, His majesty, His power, His love, His promise, and His PRESENCE to whoever may need to experience it. Go today, finding comfort in knowing that you are LOVED by the King of the Universe, and that HE. IS. NEAR.

I am there in the wind that blows and the music of the birds and the children's laughter....surrounding you with my love. You make the world a better place just by being you.

God's blessings arrive at all times... He must know you are READY to go with little notice. (For me, He knows I would need a years notice at the very least.) From your was TIME! I will continue to pray for your strength and wisdom and endurance to share your love, give out those hugs and answer to those little voices calling....."SAAAARRRRRRRAAAHHH". I can almost hear them from here......
