Cultural activities!

March 31, 2008 - Melbourne, Australia

Went to Halftix today, for tickets to Anthony Menchetti, one of the comedians here for the comedy festival. Turns out he doesn't actually play on Mondays. Oh. But no worries, I forked out some more cash for a play called Holding the Man (read the plot there), which is most definitely not a part of the festival. But I had heard good things about the play, so I decided to go for it. For $40 I bought me a voucher (normal price double that). Arrived at the theatre on the south bank of the river Yarra five minutes before the start, but I still got a good seat - fifth row up, right in the centre. The first half was more like a conedy than the tear-jerker I thought it would be. But as soon as the second half started, things turned dramatic. Badly. Speechless I sat through the second hour, just taking in everything that was happened. The damn thing played foosball with my emotions - happy, sad, happy, sad, happy, sad... a very good way to spend an evening. And now, of course, I want to read the book. But there's more culture going my way. Tomorrow I will go to see Anthony Menchetti, and go watch Re-educating Rita to boot! A night of comedy. Should be a lot of fun.

Ligt er ook een beetje aan of het in een schouwburg is of in een klein theater natuurlijk.
