Weekend numero 4...I think

October 13, 2008 - Chefchaouen, Morocco

I've been really really busy.  This weekend was the Morrocco trip.  What an adventure!  We left Granada right after class on Friday.  We got on a 5 hour bus ride to find that the boats weren't running because of a storm.  The winds were really strong.  I tried to run in the wind and it was like I was walking.  We ended up staying at a hotel by the boat station.

It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.  It was dirty and old.  I hardly slept because the winds were so loud and the bed was so uncomfortable.

The next morning, we got up and went back to the boat station.  They told us that we would have a boat by 11.  That didn't happen.  Then they told us taht they would have a boat for us at 2.  At this point i didn't believe anything the tour guy said.  I just wanted to go home and have my money refunded.

Finally, we got on a boat.  HORRIBLE.  Everyone in Europe and their moms were on this boat.  the boat was very crowded and everyone was seasick.  The water was still very rough.  there were people everywhere, on all sides, vomitting.  Kids, adults, americans, spanish, africans, were all holding plastic baggies. the ride was about 4 hours long.

I saw a dolphin!

We finally got to Morrocco and it took 10 years to get off the boat.

Once in Morrocco, we were stared at constantly.  We were told that we couldnt take pictures at the border and of course someone did, so the police had to come on our bus before we got through.  We had an AMAZING lunch with a show and about 5 courses of food.  The country was very poor and we walked everywhere Saturday to make up for last time.  we finally got to our hotel at about midnight.

The hotel was beautiful but it had no hot water so my shower was freezing.  I feel asleep right afer and now I have a bit of a cold.

On sunday we went to a village that was completly painted blue.  Although it was very pooor, I still thought that it was beautiful.  the townspeople were so generous, too.  I went to a little shop and saw some earrings taht I really liked, and I'd been getting people to lower their proces all day so when I asked the man how much they were, he said 15 dirham (about a dollar).  I said oh, I have 10 (like 50 cents) he replied to me "you only have 10.  it's okay.  take the earrings, and buy something nice for your family. It's my gift to you."  isnt that the sweetest thing ever.

We left.  Got on a long bus ride.  got on a 45 minute boat back to spain.  Then a 5 hour bus ride to Granada and got home at about midnight.

I got up early monday morning to go to the beach:)

Hi Felicia. Delores and I are going to Cuernavaca in 19 days. Maybe I'll be able to speak some Spanish with Mercedes at Thanksgiving. Love, Daddy
