Madrid

October 25, 2008 - Madrid, Spain

I´ve been in Madrid for a while now.  It´s hard to get on the internet though, considering I had to leave my computer in Granada.  This internet cafè is alright, though.

We left Granada after our exam on Friday.  The exam, by the way was the most ridiculous exam I´ve ever taken.  The whole exam was over future tense, when for the last three weeks in Granada, we studied past.  I had never seen future tense before, so I´m sure I made like um, a negative 100 on my test.

The bus ride didn´t seem very long at all.  It was 5 hours but I slept for about 4 1/2 hours.  We went on the metro and and got to our flat at about 1 am.  Lisa is my roommate and I think about 12 people share the bathroom.  Te floors are bery creaky and loud but the breakfast and dinner are much much better.

Saturday night we were on our way to a discotequa in some town..."Gay Town" actually.  The biggest one in Spain I think Matt said..We were walking in a big group down the street and behind us, Jamie was crying because her wallet was missing from her purse.  Some one had pickpocketed her.  They took not only her medicine, but her passport, all of her id, all of her cash, and credit cards.

Saturday we walked around the Prado.  ALL DAY. Sunday, another museum.  Tuesday, two museums (including the Prado AGAIN).  Wednesday, another museum.  Thursday, Prado AGAIN.  I´m sick of museums.

Yesterday, we went to Toledo. Its a town outside of Madrid.  It was pretty, yes...but I thought the trip was ridiculous.  The trip was mandatory for the art class that I am taking here, but I had to pay for my train ticket.  Then we got there.  I had to pay for the bus ride. .90 cents.  The next bus ride. .90 more cents.. The bus ride after that..90 cents more.  Then, lunch was really expensive because it is a tourist city. Lindsey and I shared but it was still 13 euros for my half. The cathedral I was supposed to go into was supposed to be another 7 euros...I didn´t go. I waited outside with Jamie.  I felt it stupid to waste 7 euros to see a CATHEDRAL.  7 EUROS TO SEE A CATHEDRAL.  and you couldnt even take pictures.  Plus I´ve seen about 100 cathedrals since i got to Spain.  Went to Mc Donalds twice while i was there...i´m a hungry girl.  and yet, another 90 cents to get a bus back to the train station.  For some reason, I feel as if transportation and cathedral should have been included in the tuition we paid..

I´ll work on my paper today.  Flea market tomorrow.  I´ll be alone on Monday because everyone is leaving town before me.  London tuesday.

Pictures of Madrid, later. I can´t upload on this comptuer.
