We hit the road at 7:45 this morning, relatively early for us, and after taking a look at the 80 metre cliffs of the Great Australian Bight just off the road, we headed out for our longest.......and straightest drive to date. In one sense the plains are awe inspiring but you eventually are relegated to counting road kill (Nancy calculated 3.6 dead kangaroos per kilometre-apparently they are attracted to what little moisture there is on the road and the road trains use them as bowling pins)or trying to sleep to ensure time progresses more quickly. After over 700 kms of rarely using the steering or brakes, we called it a day and pulled into Belledonia road house at 4:30 local time(having passed through 2 time changes of 45 minutes each. Go figure.) We’re quite looking forward to tomorrow as there is an actual intersection just 188 kms down the road!!!!!Yeah!!!!!!
Oh, and by the way, the Nullabor trip from Ceduna to Norseman is not 1,038 kms it's closer to 2,500 kms.................my eyes are getting bleary and I'm starting to see emus where there is only a tangled piece of wood and a hazy horizon.
