Muchas lugares.....menos tiempo!

July 9, 2008 - San Cristóbal, Mexico

Wow time has flown by so so fast!! I now only have about 13 days left here and I am amazed at how fast the days have gone by. My keyboard is broken on my laptop so thats the main reason I have not made an entry but also because I am constantly staying busy. I have really started to feel at home here and I really enjoy my days...except getting up at 7am everyday for school. I like my classes and they really have taught me alot, but I really hate going every morning. I know that I have learned alot of spanish but Im probably not really aware of how much I am really learning. I can understand conversations as well as read and write really well but as for fluent conversation, I feel like I still struggle. It seems that my mind and my mouth just doesnt connect when I try to speak spanish. Ofcourse, Im sure it will be the last week here that it finally clicks and then I have to come home. Oh well, this has been such an incredible experience and I am so grateful to have been able to come here. It has really opened my eyes as well as my perspective of other cultures and how the rest of the world lives. I have witnessed some of the worst living conditions as well as some of the most interesting cultural differences. I feel like my time here, so far, has been very well rounded and has forced me to deal with situations outside my comfort zone. I have learned alot about myself especially when i have been put in some really terrifying situations that really inforce the importance of being aware of my surroundings at all times. I have met some really cool people here who are travellers just passing through, most of which are young women travelling on their own. I have been to a beautiful canyon, visited an indiginous zapatista villages where they really do all wear black masks, cave diving, climbed a waterfall, visited different colored lakes, climbed ancient Mayan ruins, and many countless memorable experiences not including the nights out on the town with my friends. Over all, This Is Awesome!!!!

Itsn't it amazing how time flies when you are having Rum (or in your case Tequila)I'm so glad you are enjoying yourself and learning alot at the same time. I think learning the culture down there may be more important than learning the language which will come with time and practice. I think we may have created a monster, You will be wanting to take these trips all the time now. The pictures are great you really have an eye for taking pictures. i have been impressed with the angle and the content of your shots. We miss your smiling face. Be safe baby girl. I love you!!! MOM
