Arrived in Cape Town

After more than 24 hours or so of traveling, we arrived in Cape Town at 4pm this afternoon.  South Africa is 6 hours ahead of the eastern time zone in th U.S.  Not much to report so far.  Cape Town is a fairly sophisticated city, though we passed many shanty towns on the way from the airport.  The city itself reminds me of San Francisco:  it's never too hot or too cold, has mountains nearby, fog rolls in daily, and it's on the water.  It even has Robbins Islands which is a prison where Nelson Mandela stayed - similar to Alcatraz.  Our hostel, the Sunflower Stop, is not quite as nice as the web site makes it seem.  But the showers are hot, so it will do.  We just got back from dinner at some random Cuban restaurant we found, and tomorrow, we will have all day to explore before flying to Namibia on Friday.  More to come!
