Bern baby, Bern!

May 6, 2008 - Berlin, Germany

Well...we´ve had the most exhausting and emotionally-draining 24hrs ever but will get to that in abit...Am writing from a net cafe in Berlin and let me tell you we´re so glad to be settled in here...

After spending the day plodding round Geneve and writing the last journal entry, Bern beckoned and we headed there to enjoy amazing views of the Alps & Lake Geneve from the comfort of the train. Bern wasn´t an eyesore either...vast streching valleys with the Aar River being pretty much crystal clear. Spent a night in a very quiet hostel ( it was a sunday mind you), while sharing a dorm with two middle-aged Nigerian catholics, whom we proceeded to name Maj & Harold. In the morning, we packed up and our two room-mates said/sung a prayer for our travels, which was nice but the next day of travelling was anything but a blessing...

The bastards cursed us! We left our hostel in the highest of spirits, expecting an easy days train travel with a hostel booked in Frankfurt. We´d have a wonder round Bern & the Einstein museum while waiting for the departure time. The museum was closed on mondays! which we found out after trekking there, so we went to Einsteins flat (where he developed his special theory of relativity). That was great having a browse around, then we left for Frankfurt...Not only did we get the wrong Frankfurt (theres one in the east aswell) the hostel was terrible so we decided to take our chance and head for München on a train just leaving...hopefully finding a room to stay in when we arrived. Unknown to us, there was a concert & a big football match on that night in München, so when we finally arrived at 9:30pm, there wasn´t a room anywhere...PANIC! After over 45mins of wondering the station frantically with all our gear, we finally decided to get a night train to arrive in Berlin the next morning...

Phew, it has been very tough on us both (physically&emotionally) but we both had each other and thats the main thing. Have booked 3 nights here in Berlin so we can see all thats here to offer (its a massive city!) and also for convalscence. Will be booking our trip more in advance from now on haha...Will be putting up more pictures next time we´re on...

Take care everyone, love you all...
