Hello again everyone!
Feels like ages since we wrote our Munich blog about 5mins ago, but heres the lowdown on what we got up to after our German travels...
We knew that our Global train pass didn't have much time left on it so we decided to head back to the land of the Suisse, to be in plenty of time for the Newton Faulkner gig in Zurich. We always knew we wanted to go back to Bern after our misfortune with the Einstein exhibition, so we thought we'd try again. Luck was not on our side! Most of Switzerland was booked up, some secret Suisse conspiracy is against us! So we decided to stay in Zurich and travel out to Bern for a day trip, Einstein had better appreciate our efforts. A very vast and indepth exhibition it was, it took us 4 hours to get through but it was well worth it. Our brains were truely fried by the complexity of his works. Leanne still doesn't understand and continues to spell 'physics' with an 'f'. In our opinon, Zurich is a great place if your inside...or going to a Newton Faulkner gig, but other than that stay in Bern if your going Switzerland. Expensive and ugly sums up the dingy, grey place. Onto Newton...what a legend! The best gig ever performed by one man. He does his own tricks and jokes with the crowd, aswell as being a fantastic & technical musician. We were two of about 150 people in a tiny club so this gig was very intimate, we could've touched him but I held Leanne back to stop an international incident, i.e. being deported.
While still buzzing from the gig, the next morning we left Zurich for a long train ride to Venice (which is our current location). Today we've had a wander round the island, getting lost in the back streets and sampling fine Italian cuisine. It has been raining but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. St Mark's Square was definately worth the battle with the crowds & American accents.
After a long month's continuous travelling, we've started losing our steam and have become very travel weary. We highly recommend backpacking as a whole and have throughly enjoyed this leg, but we are going to go slower from now on. We made the most of the InterRail ticket darting around this continent, but now we're taking a break. Tomorrow we have a ferry to Corfu and we'll be hanging up our boots in Greece for a while until we decide on our next port of call. We promise more pictures will be put up eventually once we find an internet cafe with Flash & a USB port!!
Until next time from Greece, laters taters xxx
P.S we will still be keeping up-to-date with this site and our emails, so feel free to continue posting your wonderful comments!
