Back on the road!

June 29, 2008 - Thessaloníki, Greece

Hello everybody!

Hope your all doing great...it feels like ages since we left and started our gnomad trip. The second leg of the voyage is now underway after a fulfilling break in the sun-soaked Med. We will be tackling the Eastern Block with all its mysteries after hearing many great things from fellow travellers. Had abit of a delay last week after Sam got ill with what we think was gastric flu, only meant relaxing for an extra week (oh the shame!) & u'll be glad to hear hes has now fully recovered.

After our last post in Venice, we caught a ferry on route to Corfu and stayed at a brilliant hostel called Sunrock, set on the hillside with breathtaking views of the coast. We had to choices of either swimming, eating or sleeping so that suited us down to the ground. Had all our meals cooked by the wonderful Magdelina (our hostess) which were spectacular and involved all kinds of home grown/reared ingredients. There we met Larry - an old skool hippy who had just recently become a permanent resident - he literally is 'happy as'! From Corfu we flew to Skiathos via Athens, we were so tired from sleeping at the airport in Corfu (we had an early flight) that we didn't get to see much of Athes but we made the effort to visit the Acropolis....which is MASSIVE!

We are very well rested after Skiathos, we didnt do much but eat and sunbathe! We are now in Thessaloniki after catching the ferry here yesterday. Last night we stayed in a Beruit-esque hotel/hostel, Leanne was appalled by the bathroom which was far below Kim and Aggy standards! But she made friends with the hotel receptionist who managed to get us a sweet deal on a hotel across the road. Thessonalniki is a lovely city, clean, friendly and lively. We plan to stay tonight and the catch the midnight train to Sofia, Bulgaria.

It's great to back on the road and going a different pace. We will keep you all posted on what we are up to. Until then.....
