Chummy is a 28' 1982 classic Airstream Turbo Diesel motor home. He is #30 of approximately 150 ever manufactured. Chummy was made in Ohio then moved to California to live the good life with a doctor. He then moved cross country to New Hampshire to be babied by a professor his wife and their dog. Chummy now lives in the Midwest with Kent and Fran and their field springer, Cromwell.

On the following pages you will read about the many travels and trials of Chummy and his present owners. There have been major changes in Chummy, some planned and one which was not. Chummy has met many interesting people and made many new friends. These are not your typical we went there and saw this travel stories. Many of the places Chummy has visited he has avoided the major tourist spots and instead sought out the offbeat street fair, cheese factory, or back road to travel. Mostly Chummy , Kent, and Fran meet people when they travel.

I invite you to check back often to read the latest adventures of Chummy. You can learn where he has traveled and where he is going. Find out what is new with Chummy as he continues to evolve into a one of a kind motor home. If you would like to be added to Chummy's update list leave your e-mail address on the subscription link and I will let you know each time this page is updated. Even if you don't want to be on our update list leave me a message, Fran and I love to hear from the people who are reading this page.

I have also added a couple additional travel stories to this page. The first is on our trip to China and the second is an older story written several years ago about our first trip to London.

The writings and photos on these pages are the sole property of Kent and Fran Hadley. No permission has been granted to anyone to use these writings or pictures in any published form.

Hello Elizabeth's and Sam's Grandpa....I just have to tell you that my husband and I love reading your blog. We met Rachel and David on May 17th at our adoption class in Milw. We are in the process of adopting a 5yr.old little boy...we will be traveling to the same location all of you did when you were blessed with Elizabeth. So...we find your blog/story/book VERY informative and fun to read. You could easily be a travel agent...when we get closer to traveling we might consult with you for some traveling advice. Rachel and David gave us some tips...David told us about an awesome place to go for ribs. We will definitely be dining there :-) We hope to travel sometime between Aug and Sept...but don't really know for sure. You are a great writer!!

Hi there, I currently have a Classic GMC coach that I have been working on or adding to since I bought it in 01. But the GMC's are front wheel drive (not really a problem unless you tow which I do) and they never had the diesel option. Which diesel engine and trans does your's have. Also what is the layout because it looks like you do not have a rear bedroom Thanks John Nagel

Kent,
I am having a really hard time trying to get in touch with you about Chummy. I tried the web site address on Fred's but the email will not go through. I have tried through Forums but cannot because it does not like my password and am having a devil of a time trying to reset. Please contact me so that I might get some more information on Chummy.

Hello Fran and Kent,
My wife and I are searching for a diesel motorhome to bring with us to Europe now that we are about to retire. We like Chummy very much and she is pretty much what we have in mind and what our finances allow us to purchase. I hope she will stil be for sale as I write this...

Enrique
