Belfast with Mother & Brother

January 7, 2007 - Belfast, United Kingdom

Dark, cold, and old. Stayed in a swanky apartment with a washing machine. Another Botanic Garden, another curvy glass building. Quality aimless wandering with Reed. A really old pub of tiles, colored glass, lots of carved wood, and men in suits standing around drinking. One farkin expensive dinner with entrees of about 10 bites. Political murals and black taxis prevalent on the western side of the city. Asshole bus drivers, one attacking a helpless old Australian lady, and one gypping us out of bus fare. Otherwise really nice and accommodating people. Maw Maw (grandma) passes away January 7 in Austin at age 92. Am frustrated I will not be there for the funeral. She is certainly much happier now.

Grandmother's funeral very personal -- mother's good friend Pearl Donham comes - she is 96 - she drove herself - walks 8 blocks every day and still weeds her garden on her knees - told her to keep goin' girl! Preacher provided by the funeral home was amazing - many friends and family -- all send good wishes to you on your travels.-- Reed was pallbearer and Mom supporter - he was great. Miss you so -- Mom
