I am back in London now after a wonderful Spring Break. I have been living out of a very small bag for the past 8 days, and although it was a fabulous trip, it is great to be "home." I will do my best to fill you all in on what I have seen and experienced over the last week. We'll see how much of this I can remember (haha) and where I can't, I will use my handwritten journal to fill in the gaps. So here goes!
THURSDAY, MARCH 13:
Took a midterm and left for Prague around 3:00. Caught a plane to the Czech Republic, arrived in Prague at night, wandered around the city until we found our hostel, got some rest.
FRIDAY, MARCH 14:
From my diary: "Prague. Going good so far. We are having a good time; I am liking Prague a lot more than I thought I would. This morning, Claire, Hayley and I went to the Jewish Quarter. We went into some shops and also to the Easter Market. For lunch, we had 'euro dogs.' They're like hotdogs in baguettes. Delicious. We had these dough rolls in the afternoon and walked around the Old Town Square. We were just exploring the city on foot and came across a Chocolate Art Museum. It was crazy. There was a history room of chocolate history and an exhibit of chocolate paintings. We also went to a room in the museum where we did our own chocolate paintings-- it was fun! We saw the astrological clock in the square strike five and we walked back to the hostel. We had dinner at this restaurant that was quite the experience. We ended up not getting what we ordered and paying too much, but it was still good. We weren't skilled enough in Czech to argue it. We managed to get some student tickets to the Prague Royal Orchestra. The concert hall was very pretty and the music was good, too. They played Pachelbel's Canon and Vivaldi's Four Seasons. After the concert we walked around looking for a dessert place and ended up going to a grocery store. Now we are all in the hostel and are talking about our weddings."
SATURDAY, MARCH 15:
From my diary: "The Lord gave us a beautiful day today! The sun was shining and it was so nice! We saw Prague Castle, St. George's Basilica, and walked the Golden Lane and Charles Bridge. We went to the market for lunch and came back to the hostel to take a nap. [It was so nice to have time to rest!] Tonight we went shopping at H&M and to the grocery store. There is so much to see at the store! So many brands we don't have... specifically in Orbit gum! I love it!"
