That's right. In less than 5 weeks, actually, I will be back home in the States. We are still going strong, here, though, and there's much more to see!
Yesterday, my history class went to the Museum in the Docklands to study about London's Slave Trade. We watched the movie Amazing Grace the night before. It was great, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has yet to see it. It served as a great background of information for our visit to the docks. Yesterday afternoon, we left the house and went to the National Theatre for a backstage tour before seeing our performance for the evening, Major Barbara. We got to go behind the scenes and see the workshops for the National as well as tours of all three theatres: the Cottlesloe, the Lyttleton, and the Olivier. We saw our third play in the Olivier theatre last night.
Today was very artistic. We had our guest lecturer come and speak to us on historical British art today. (Portraiture and paintings that tell stories). That class met from ten until 12, and then we were to meet her at the Tate Britain at two. After a quick lunch at the house, Hayley and I decided to go to Kensington Gardens for afternoon tea at the Orangery. Very classy, and very good. I had cinnamon spice tea, and it had cinnamon sticks in the pot! After we left the Orangery, we got on the Tube and went to the art museum.
The tour was pretty neat; I really liked the paintings we saw today. I like Gainsborough-- his paintings are very pretty to me. I also saw Waterhouse's The Lady of Shalott. My Grandmother has this painting in her house, so I was thrilled to see the original.
After leaving the art gallery, I came back to the house and have been relaxing. I'm still tired, and it's kinda funny because everyone here is so exhausted. In class we were all wondering why we could be so tired, and we came to the conclusion that it's just because we haven't really stopped going strong for the past three weeks. At least I am not alone! Carolyn made community dinner tonight: Chicken pot pie. Now, I am just enjoying some alone time in my room. I have been reading, listening to my Adrian Rodgers podcast, emailing, and relaxing. It's been fun living in a house with all these girls, but it's still nice to have a room of my own...
